GSOC officer who attended Monk party rented Hutch family house

A Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) investigator attended a party at Gerry Hutch’s house with his landlady, who is a relative of the crime boss, the Government has been briefed.

The revelation comes as GSOC was rocked by the bombshell that one of its senior investigators had attended the post-acquittal celebrations 


SENIOR sources believe the investigator was living just four doors away from Hutch’s relative – from whom he rented his accommodation. It is understood this is how he came to be invited to the party at Hutch’s house in the Paddocks, Clontarf, just hours after he dramatically walked free from the Special Criminal Court on Monday.


If GSOC was fit for practice, why did, on 13 May 2014, the Government decide that the Minister for Justice should establish an Independent Review Mechanism to consider allegations of Garda misconduct with 326 cases instantly referred by the Taoiseach? Not one happy client. Why?
